The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts by K.C Tansley
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy/Paranormal
The Girl who Ignored Ghosts follows the story of Kat as she finishes up her junior year at a prep school called McTernan Academy. Since she was a young girl, Kat has the ability to see ghosts. After being almost possessed by one, she has to protect herself by not believing in ghosts. In result, the dangerous ghosts would not be able to harm her if she did not believe in them. She has been doing well with keeping the ghosts away, but when assigned to a summer research project with school, she is more vulnerable to the unbelievables than ever before.
Her summer research project, with a team of students is the investigation of a murder case from 1886. They travel to Castle Creighton to research, which is a place I loved the setting for. It is very descriptive and made you visualize the old castle in your mind. Here, Kat and Evan enter a magical portal, where they time-travel back in time to that murder, possessing other bodies. I won’t give anymore of the plot away, because it unravels in such an exciting way.
This was a really great YA read! From the very beginning, I was pulled into Kat’s story and the mysteries in her life. I personally love ghost stories and mysteries, which is what made me want to read this story. It is a story of full of mystery, ghosts, and surprises. It was really hard to put this book down because I was so excited and curious as to what would happen next. I also really liked Kat’s voice as a character and was easy to escape into her world. The supporting characters added a lot to the story as well and were very believable. The plot was really unique and intriguing. I definitely recommend this story and will be following this series!
